This program applies to residential members that install a new approved electric boiler used for space heating equipment. The intention of this program is to discourage the use of electrical water heaters installed as a “cheap” boiler for space heating applications. The incentive helps to ensure installations with an appropriate boiler designed for this purpose. The incentive is not available for larger commercial boiler installations, where this misapplication rarely occurs.

•The boiler must be electric and operate as the primary heating system in a closed-loop boiler application.
•The boiler can not be used for domestic water heating.
•The boiler cannot be a unit that is primarily sold as a water heater product. The unit must be shipped with the following built in features:
     Pressure relief valve (conforming to ASME requirements)
     Pressure and Temperature Gauge (ANSI or ASME certified)
     Limiting Temperature Controller
•The unit must be certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or Underwriters Laboratory (UL) for all applicable boiler standards.
•The space heated by the primary electric system must be an area of 400 square feet or more.

CAN QUALIFY FOR THE ELECTRIC HEAT RATE
•The primary heating system must be electric boiler and metered separately.
•A premium electric water heater must be installed and provide 100% of the domestic water heating for the home.
•The space heated by the primary electric system must be an area of 400 square feet or more.
